Mary Ann Poland, 83, of Glasgow KY, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on January 3, 2026. Born January 23, 1942, Mary Ann was the heart and soul of her family.
She was the unofficial cheerleader for every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild, never missing an event—no matter how big or small. If her family was participating, she was in the front row as their biggest fan. She always had an open door to everyone in her home and made sure they were fed and felt welcomed. Her nurturing heart earned her the role of being a second mom to countless kids over the years whom she loved and raised as her own. Her love for sports was legendary. She spent countless hours at the ballpark watching her children and grandchildren play a variety of sports. She also had a loving bond with her Glasgow Baptist Sunday School class members. She considered them her very best friends in Christ and looked so forward to seeing them and learning about the Lord. Relaxing at home, you would find her watching the ID channel and her nightly favorite, Everybody Loves Raymond. Mary Ann enjoyed collecting recipes and spending summer mornings at yard sales with the girls. Lastly, she was always known for being the most stylish one of the family, noting she never went to the mailbox without her outfit, hair, and makeup done to perfection!
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her four children: Terri Elmore, Jeff Poland (Sherry), Jerry Poland (Dana), and Tammie Workman (late Jeff). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lindsey Maurer (Steven) and Whitney Elmore, Chloe and Jackson Poland, Scout Thompson (Kayla) and Drake Poland, Blade Workman, and Taylor Hudson (Macy); and while she cherished the many years with her grandchildren, becoming a great-grandmother to Tatum and Rowen Maurer was a treasured gift that brought her immense happiness and lots of laughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Poland, along with her sister and three brothers. Mary Ann’s final week was a beautiful reflection of the life she lived—spent comfortably at home, surrounded by friends and family she loved, telling stories, and watching her great grandchildren play around her. She spent her last days joyfully looking forward to the day she would meet Jesus and be reunited with her beloved Bob.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with visitation from 10am-2pm and funeral service following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude.
