Mary Elizabeth Nunn died Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was born September 17, 1931 to Dr. Paul S. York, Sr. and Jennie Elizabeth Depp York. She lived a long and full life, doing what she loved (yard work, flower gardening, sewing, walking to town, playing bridge, spending time with her granddaughters) with relish. She gave her best effort to any cause that she joined, as evidenced by her church work, Glasgow Garden Club activities, Republican Women’s Club, the 21 Investment Club, Community Medical Care, and numerous bridge clubs.

She was a talented storyteller, dramatic and eloquent, and loved to regale her grandchildren with tales of her childhood and family history. She loved to travel and accompanied her mother on many trips, worldwide. Mary was married to Winston C. Nunn for sixty-six years; their personalities perfectly complemented each other. He preceded her in death in 2017. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Buist Richardson; her brother and sister-in-law Sam and Sandra York; and a sister-in-law Margaret York; and her son, Robert Bruce Nunn.

She is survived by her children, Winston York Nunn (Teresa) and Jenny Margaret Parsley (Ricky); and her grandchildren, Jennie Rodgers (Greg) and MaryHelen Nunn (Shelby Smith); and one great grandchild, Marguerite Wyn Smith; her brother, Dr. Paul S. York, Jr.  Also surviving are numerous nephews, nieces and cousins – many of whom are Depp descendants- a connection she was proud to claim. The family is so grateful for the wonderful care she received at Glenview Health and Rehab, and from TJ Samson Hospice Care.

Mary’s funeral service will be Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church in Glasgow. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to the Church, Community Medical Care or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
