Martha Imo Lynn 92 of Louisville Ky. formerly of Glasgow and Normal IL, died at 2:45 PM Friday Oct. 7, 2011, at the Eastern Star Home in Louisville. She was born August 2nd 1919 at Poplar Log, KY to James M. and Nellie Matthews Lynn.
Imo was a retired employee of Ben Franklin 5 & 10, where she had worked for 24 years. She was a former member of Glasgow Baptist Church where she taught elementary Sunday school and had other responsibilities until she moved to Normal Il in 2004. There she joined the Calvary Baptist Church in Normal Il. Imo was a member of Glasgow Chapter #257, Order of Eastern Star since 1964. She was Grand Representative to the Illinois Grand Chapter from the Grand Chapter of Kentucky, 1972 and 1973; she was Grand Matron in King Freeman Grand Family in 1973 and 1974. She held positions whenever needed and visited many Chapters in Kentucky and Illinois. Imo had a desire to help others and had cared for several elderly residents of Glasgow. She was known for her sewing skills and quilt making. She made many quilts for family and friends.
Surviving are nephew Hollis (Rosanne) Peden of Bloomington IL and niece Linda (Don) Winterland of Lake Mills, WI; 5 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 11 great-great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-great nephew. Imo was preceded in death by one brother James Lynn; one sister Beulah Peden; and brother-in-law Ivan Hollis Peden. Imo will be missed by many in Illinois and Kentucky and special cousin Lilly Turner and friend Mary Ed Chamberlain both of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct 13 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Barbour Cemetery at Poplar Springs, Ky. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 8: 00 PM at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with Eastern Star Service at 6:00 PM.
