Listen to Obituary

Margaret Lee (Jessie) Ramey passed away on February 25, 2026, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky, one day after her younger sister, Jean. Margaret was born in Barren County on August 5,1931, to Joe Henry and Minnie Mae (Compton) Jessie. She was the second oldest child. She was married September 16, 1950, to Roscoe R Ramey in a double ceremony with her oldest sister Blanche and Stanley Greer. Margaret and Roscoe had three children, Kenneth (Kenny), Wanda, and Janet.

Margaret worked many years at Mallory Capacitor Company in Glasgow Ky until she retired in 1988 and thus, began a successful business with her sister, Jean at M & J Quilting. Their work was widely known, and they continued to receive requests from across the county after they retired again in 2021.

Margaret was a member of the Horse Cave Christian Church and enjoyed her church family immensely. Margaret loved to garden and cook in her spare time. She was fiercely independent and lived at home until the last week of her life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and her door was always open. She was a dedicated and conscientious mother who inspired honesty, hard work, and a sense of pride in whatever one does. She was quick to offer an opinion, but it came with a helping hand if you needed it.

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Rutherford (David) and Janet Jones (Keith Reed), four grandchildren, Aaron Ramey, Beth Taylor (Chris Logsdon), Graham Rutherford (Sarah) and Taylor Crews, three Great grandchildren, Luke Poppy, Caleb Rutherford and Jonah Rutherford, sisters Elsie Isenberg (Charles-D) and Linda Jo Cannon (Wayne), brothers Manuel Jessie (Harriett-D) and Danny Jessie (Debbie) and too many to name, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe, son, Kenny, and her grandson, Devin Crews, her parents, Joe and Mae Jessie along with her sisters Blanche Greer (Stanley-D), Jean Sexton (Ollis-D), Mildred Smith, Kathy Chapman, Edna Sexton (Coy-D) and Barbara Jean (infant) and one brother, Sam Jessie (Lavinia-D).
