Lowell Walton, age 79, son of the late Roger Walton and the late Eugenia Walton, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at The Medical Center at Scottsville.
A native of Barren County, Lowell graduated from Hiseville High School with the Class of 1964 before earning his degree from Western Kentucky University. He devoted his career to serving others, first as a teacher and later as a social worker with the Department for Community Based Services, where he advocated for vulnerable adults throughout his community.
Lowell was a faithful member of Cave City Christian Church.
Known for his generosity, kindness, and quiet compassion, Lowell touched countless lives. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, often with a wry sense of humor that could brighten someone's day. A lifelong student of history, he delighted in sharing fascinating stories and historical insights with family and friends.
The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Lowell by the staff at The Medical Center at Scottsville and The Medical Center at Caverna.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sara Walton; his daughter, Nellie Arnett (Tom); his son, Keith Walton (Terri); grandchildren, Alex Arnett, Abby Arnett, Audrey Walton, Spencer Walton, and Maddie Brown (Jordan); two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Gail Matthews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial contributions to Hosparus or Cave City Christian Church, in lieu of flowers, honoring Lowell's lifelong commitment to serving others and his faith.
