The daughter of Hazel Ekreder and Richard Maravilla, Lenora graduated from Cathedral High School in New York and, with determination, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Library Science from Western Kentucky University, while working full-time at the Mary Wood Weldon Library in Glasgow, Ky.
Lenora's career was marked by her dedication to the Glasgow Library, where she delighted in her role both inside the library and as the driver of the Barren County Bookmobile. Her visits to rural areas and county schools were not just about delivering books, but about sharing her love for stories and learning, fostering a love of reading in countless young minds.
Animals held a special place in Lenora's heart. A passionate advocate for their welfare, she volunteered tirelessly with the Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA), where she also served as treasurer. Her compassion extended to her own beloved feline companions, Jet and Zulu, who were her steadfast friends.
Lenora was predeceased by her parents, Hazel and Richard Maravilla, her husband, Mitchell Coates and her grandson, Ryan Zike. She leaves behind her daughter, Lenora (Ben) Zike, her grandson, Kevin Zike, and her great-granddaughter, Layla Zike. Her brother, Ken (Jan) Maravilla, along with her cherished cats and a multitude of close friends, will miss her dearly.
Known for her fierce independence, Lenora continued to drive and live on her own, savoring each moment spent with friends. She found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was a meal out, a trip to the movies, or an afternoon of playing Bunco. Her love for books was insatiable, and she often frequented used book sales, always in search of her next great read.
