Lawrence Lincoln Vance, 95, Glasgow, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at NHC of Glasgow. A native of Park City, he was a son of the late John Marshall and Nora Barrons Vance. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served as the only medical personnel aboard a U.S. submarine. He was a mason and a shriner; he had worked as a Pullman conductor for L & N Railroad; he had worked as a health inspector and a member of the Disability Review Team for the State of Kentucky as well as a hearing officer for public assistance. He has also served as a member of the Disability Review Team for Social Security Administration in Atlanta. He was a past president of the local AARP chapter and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lela Mae Vance; one brother, Kenneth Gene Vance (Ann) of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews including Patty Brown, Robert Friend, Sharon Frey, Jerry Friend, Mack Ross, Julie Scoski, Lisa Collopy, Alan Vance, and Karen Vance.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Allan “Larry” Vance and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
