Joseph Michael McGuire passed from this life on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Glenview Health & Rehab Center after an extended illness. Michael was born in Glasgow, KY to Joseph McGuire and Euleta Sharp McGuire on August 24, 1949. Michael was their only child. He is preceded in death by both parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Steve) Eklund of California; one very special aunt, Rebecca Carey; a special friend, Donna Waylan; along with several cousins.
Before his military service, most of his younger years were spent in the Louisville, KY area. Michael served his country well during the Vietnam War; but came home with issues that stayed with him until his death.
Michael found joy in music, especially country music and he was a true Elvis fan. Michael always had a smile for his visitors at the nursing home and he had a very generous heart.
A short family visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Hiseville Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV.
A special thank you is sent to Karen Rector who lovingly served as Michael’s guardian for the past several years.
