John Sam Cheatham
August 24, 1918 ~ November 11, 2003
John Sam Cheatham, 85, Glasgow , died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the NHC Health Care Center. A son of the late Horace and Amanda Jeffries Cheatham, he was a retired insurance salesman. Mr. Cheatham was a United States Army veteran of WW II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Glasgow Baptist Church .
Survivors include his wife, Lilly; three daughters, Peggy Aymond and her husband, Ned, of Cookeville, TN, Barbara McGuire and her husband, Jeff, of Bowling Green, and Sherri Morgan and her husband, Stephen, of Virginia, three grandchildren, Ricky McCoy, Tracy Dixon and Brittany Stricklin; one brother, Will Cheatham; six sisters, Louise Tarry, Evelyn Marcum, Linda Byrd, Mary Catherine Foster, Bertha Williams and Joann McCoy; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem Cemetery . Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
