James Howard Burks, 86, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late John and Pauline Byrd Goff Burks and a army veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife: Ellen Mae Lanham Burks; one son: Thomas Davis Burks and his wife Vivian; two daughters: Janice Davis Jennings and her husband Brian and Sharon Coffman and her husband Clifford. Four grandchildren: Melissa Jennings, Angie Burks, Charles Coffman and Amy Raynes. Three great-grandchildren: Leah Coffman Timmy Raynes and Hannah Raynes.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Annis and Jeanette Craine.
Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will provide military honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
