Jack E. Pipkin, 79, of Cave City, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at his residence. He graduated high school in Anderson, CA. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960, then in the U.S. Army for the next 17 years and retired as Command Sergeant Major in 1977. While in the Army, Jack served two tours in Vietnam. At the age of 39, started college at and earned his degree from Indiana University. The family moved to Nashville, TN, where Jack worked as purchasing director for Metro Nashville Davidson County Public Schools and retired for the second time in 2001. He and his wife moved to Cave City, KY in 2006.

He is survived by his wife Fredia Barnett Pipkin; three children: Marcia Hitchins, Angela Banks (Tracy) and James Pipkin (Kimberly); five grandchildren; Nicci, Christopher, Ashley, Shelby and Brandi; four great-grandchildren; Lily, Sadie, Aubree, and Liam; one sister, Myrtle Callahan and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Myra (Yeager) Pipkin (Shawnee, OK); brothers: William Clifford Pipkin, Harold Pipkin, Isaac Murrell Pipkin, Cleveland Marion Pipkin, Harvey Keith Pipkin, Roy C. Zornes and Leo James Zornes: three sisters: Imo Zornes, Effie Pearl Wolf and Bertha Clifton.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. CST, Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial at 1:00 p.m. CST at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 after 9:00 a.m. CST at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s, Hospice or charity of your choice.
