J.T. Jackman, 86, husband of Robbie Norris Jackman, died Thursday, March 19, 2015. Born February 23, 1929 in Goodnight, Kentucky, he was the son of Will Railey and Hattie Mae Jackman.
A Korean War veteran, J.T. was a successful farmer in the Chestnut Grove community of Barren County. In his spare time and since retirement from farming, he enjoyed bass fishing on Barren River Reservoir and playing cards and shooting pool at Lera B. Mitchell Senior Citizen Center in Glasgow. He was a lifelong member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church where he served in many roles, including trustee and deacon, for many years.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his two sons, Norris Jackman and wife Barbara of Memphis, TN and William Jay Jackman and wife Sharon of Versailles, KY, one grandson, Will Railey Jackman of Austin, TX, and beloved caregiver and niece, Julie Hanson Gackenbach and husband Preston Rutledge of Washington, D.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his one sister Jacquetta Jackman Hanson, and her husband Garner, of Park City, KY.
Bro. Toby Nunn will officiate the funeral service at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow, KY on Sunday, March 22, at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, from 3:00 until 7:00 pm and Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Will Railey Jackman, Andrew Rutledge, Joe Jackman, Danny Norris, Rodney Norris, Jeff Ballard, Chris Norris, and Jon Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be Gale Wood, Lanny Whitlow, Leslie Kinslow, and Bob Hunt.
