Listen to Obituary

Harold V. Coomer, 81 of Glasgow, KY, passed away on June 19, 2026 at NHC Healthcare Center. He was born June 11, 1945 to his late Parents Emit and Ann Lizzie Judd Coomer. He later went on to marry the love of his life Shirley Ann Janes Coomer, on December 4th 1965. What a wonderful 65 years together.

Harold was someone who was loved by many and was a true friend and neighbor. Harold was a hard worker and was up most days before the sun came up. He loved farm life even though it was hard Both He and Shirley loved their dairy cows. He owed and worked a grade A dairy farm along with tobacco, hay and grain and beef cattle too. He was a true farmer from daylight to dark. Harold worked at Tyson Baring for 10 years but left there to dedicate his time to their full time dairy and farm.

He loved his grandchildren, who called him "Popie". Harold was a life long member of Basil Chapel United Baptist Church where he joined after being saved at 17 and later became a deacon in 1980.

Harold will be remembered as someone who would lend you a helping hand without being asked and be a listening ear to those with trouble in their lives; a true and faithful believer in God who stood firm on what he truly believed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Janes Coomer; his only son, Greg Coomer (Amy) of Glasgow; two grandsons, Wade Coomer (Haley)of Glasgow, and Jared Coomer (Emily) of Wesley Chapel, Florida; one great grandchild, Malakye Coomer; and sisters-in-law: Donna Coomer of Glen Allen, Virginia, Glenna Coomer and Betty Faye Coomer of Glasgow, Donna Janes of Bowling Green.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Cortez, CG, Carter, and Doug Coomer; two sisters: Norma Jean Kerley and Aline Smith; four brothers-in-law: James T Kerley, Raymond Smith, Buford Smith, and Elwood Janes; two sisters-in-law: Genell Smith and Oline Smith; and his mother and father in law, Alta and Mae Janes.
