Hubert Harold Campbell, Jr. was born on January 15, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Hubert and Ruth Campbell. A graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, he served as Minister of Music for over 40 years at churches in MS, TX, OK, IL, CA and Kentucky. His youth choirs took mission trips and sang in many parts of the U.S. He was known for his beautiful voice and his moving interpretation of songs.

A general contractor as well, Harold also designed, built and remodeled sanctuaries and church educational/classroom buildings in CA, AZ, NV and Sitka, Alaska. To help churches afford to build, he taught volunteers in congregations to be part of the labor crews. Harold also used his construction expertise and love of people to help change the lives of numerous troubled youth whom he mentored in the construction trade and who became successful contractors.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elinor, and by sons, Jeff and Scott, daughters Virginia Jones (John) and Merry Ann Hardin plus 8 grandchildren: Ryan, Nicolas, Cortney, Marina, Carlie, Sarah, Josh and Wesley, plus 8 great-grandchildren, 9 nieces and nephews, and 10 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Harold passed away on December 9 surrounded by loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents and by brothers, Bob and David. .

A memorial service in celebration of Harold’s life will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1100 North Race Street, in Glasgow, with family visitation from 10:00 until service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to First Christian Church. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
