Geneva D. Gilkey, 84, Lucas, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Icely Green Dixon. She was a retired nurse from the Hazelwood hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, a member of the Eastern Star Chapter Evening Star and past worthy Matron, a member of the Austin Tracy Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Marion Edward Gilkey; two sons: Col. Michael Gilkey of Lexington, KY and Patrick Gilkey and his wife Lisa of Louisville, KY; one daughter: Ramona Hawkins and her husband Jeff Of Louisville; one step-son: Marion Gilky, Jr. and his wife Connie of Louisville, KY; one step-daughter: Pamela Maze of Mt. Washington, KY; one sister: Catherine McGarvey of Middletown, PA; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one step-son: Danny Ray Gilkey; five brothers; Ed Dixon, Robert Dixon, Joe Dixon, Bobby Dixon and Ralph Dixon; one sister: Mary Smith.
Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Doolin officiating. Burial will be in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be a Eastern service 6:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Wednesday.
