Dorothy Locke, 89, died peacefully at NHC HealthCare on Friday, January 30, 2026. Born in Park, Kentucky, on February 6, 1936, Dorothy, often referred to as “Dot”, graduated from Hiseville School in Hiseville, Kentucky, where she spent much of her life. Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching game shows, listening to country music, playing cards with her friends, and voting feverishly for her favorite dancer on “Dancing with the Stars”. Most of all, she cherished time with her family and epitomized unconditional love and support.
A wonderful cook, Dorothy spoiled her family with whatever meals they requested. Her smile could light up a room, and she was rarely seen without it. She was the best listener—someone who made others feel heard, valued, and understood. A loyal friend, nurturer, and hard worker, Dorothy gave endlessly without expecting reciprocation.
She is survived by her 3 children: Michael Downs (Stella), Michelle Goldman (Ted), and Mary Lee Forbes (Matt); grandchildren: Glenn Downs (Tara), Bridget Boes (Paul), and Evalisie DiVito; great grandchildren: Robert Downs, Kennedy Downs, Luke Boes, and John Boes. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary Elizabeth Johnson; siblings, Laverne Paterno, Charles Johnson, Jack Johnson, and Betty Ann Lindsey.
Dorothy’s life will be celebrated on what would have been her 90th birthday: a fitting tribute to a woman known for celebrating others. Visitation will be at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow, KY, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm CST on Friday, February 6, 2026, with funeral services at 1:00.
