Donuel Lee Houchens, 70, died Friday, February 11, 2011 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born December 7, 1940 in Lucas, Kentucky to the late John Murray and Ethel Frances Ritter Houchens. He moved to Indiana when he was 4 years old. He joined the Navy at 18, serving in Vietnam and received a medical discharge. He was an assistant Chaplin in the Navy and was an evangelist later in life. He and his wife owned a trucking company in Lebanon, Indiana for several years, before retiring to Kentucky in 1997. He was a ham radio operator, an avid boater and a member of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion, American Radio Relay League and the Mammoth Cave Amateur Radio Club.

He is survived by his wife: Virginia Henderson Cartwright Houchens; one daughter: Angela Terranova of Glasgow; two stepsons: David Moore of Leesburg, Virginia and Randy Gasho of Frankfort, Indiana; one stepdaughter: Renee Carlson of Frankfort, Indiana; two brothers: Harold Houchens and his wife Betty of Kokomo, Indiana and John Robert Houchens and his wife Sandy of Clearwater, Florida; Several grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins survive.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one stepson: Michael Cartwright.

Funeral will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with military honors provided. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
