Delores Jean Decker

January 1, 1951 — April 20, 2025

Glasgow

Delores Jean White Decker, “Jean,” affectionately known as “Aunt Binky” or simply “Binky,” was born on January 1, 1951, in Glasgow, Kentucky. She passed away peacefully at her home early on Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2025, at the age of 74.

She was the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy White and grew up in Glasgow. Jean attended Glasgow High School and later worked for several years in the lunchroom of Glasgow City Schools, where her warm smile and caring nature brought joy to everyone she encountered.

Family was everything to Jean. After the heartbreaking loss of her son, she found renewed purpose and joy in her grandson, Richard Decker, whom she helped raise and loved deeply. She is survived by Richard and his wife Ashley, as well as five great-grandchildren: Braidyn, Brelee, Rayleigh, Paisley, and Brentlee, who were truly the light of her life.

Jean also leaves behind her three loving sisters: Mary White McKenzie (and husband Patrick), Janis White Duke (and husband Danny), and Tabatha White Williams (and husband Stacy), along with several nieces, a nephew, and many great-nieces and great-nephews, who loved her dearly, and a special friend Will Jewell. She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands, Larry Wayne Decker and Raymond Jesse; her only son, Richard Wayne Decker; and her beloved nephew, Patrick Allen McKenzie II.

Faith was the cornerstone of Jean’s life. She was deeply active in local churches and could often be found attending worship services up to six days a week. Her spiritual home was The Lighthouse in Horse Cave, Kentucky, led by Pastor Bobby Neal, where she was a beloved and faithful member. Jean rarely missed a service or revival meeting—her church family was truly an extension of her own, and she found immense joy and purpose in her devotion and fellowship.

Jean had a tender heart that showed up in small, unforgettable ways. She cried every time someone gave her a gift. She lit up listening to her family sing. She believed deeply that the Lord sent others to help her after losing her son—and found that help in friends like George and Wanda Babbitt, who faithfully drove her to church and even built two wooden steps to help her into their car. George lovingly told her they were “two steps closer to heaven.”

She will be dearly missed, but her family and friends take comfort in imagining her smiling down from heaven and saying, one final time, “I love you, baby.”

Funeral will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00pm Tuesday at the Funeral home.
