Davis Gene Hurt, age 77, of the Kino community in Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Saturday July 11, 2026. He was born in Santa Ana, California, on December 3, 1948, to the late Fred and Helen Hurt. Davis served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1970. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Maintenance Mechanic and was a member of Summer Shade Christian Church in Summer Shade, Kentucky. Davis enjoyed mowing, gardening, and was especially known for raising watermelons.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Hurt of Glasgow; his son, Brian Hurt (Tabitha) of Glasgow; and his daughter, Wendy Hurt of Glasgow. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Lexie Bush, Andrew Harper, Sawyer Hurt, Kennedy Saltsman, Reese Hurt, and Reagan Curtis.
He is also survived by a sister, Frieda Nuckols of Temple Hill; a brother, Raymond Hurt (Carolyn) of Grand Island, Nebraska; his mother-in-law, Shirley Ballard, brother-in-laws, Duane (Kim) Ballard and Ricky (Debbie) Ballard, sister-in-laws; Sinda Anderson and Karen Bartley; As well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Brother In Laws; JH Nuckols, Timmy Ballard, Garnett Anderson, and Charles Bartley and Father In Law; Kyle Ballard.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Hatcher & Sadler Funeral Home, with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be providing military honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in the form of donations to St. Judes.
