Darius Wayne Hensley, a faithful servant to his Lord, passed from his earthly life on May 1, 2026.
Wayne was born in Danville, KY on May 10, 1951, to his parents Orval and Myrtle Hensley. Growing up in the small town of McKinney, KY, Wayne graduated from McKinney High School and continued his education at Johnson Bible College. After graduation he faithfully served as minister with churches in Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina for nearly fifty years. He served his congregations with love and always stood on the truth of God’s word. After his health no longer permitted him to preach, he wrote his “Ramblings” and posted those to Facebook for everyone to read. That ministry has touched people he never knew.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Connie Carey Hensley, his sons Steven Hensley of Russellville, Michael Hensley and wife Megan of Cumming, Georgia; his bonus son, Scott Belcher and wife Annie also of Cumming, GA.; daughter-in-law, Laura Belcher and mother- in-law, Rebecca Carey. Being “Pops” to six grandchildren was a title he held dear. His grandchildren are Audrey Hensley, Bailey Belcher, Lindsay Belcher and her husband Kyle, Madison Belcher, Harrison Belcher and Ruby Hensley. Brothers Larry Hensley (Mary Lynn), Randall Hensley (Iona) and Garry Hensley (Marlene) and his sister-in -law, Brenda Hensley also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
Wayne is preceded in death by his first wife Charlene Martin Hensley, his parents, Orval and Myrtle Hensley, one brother Jesse Hensley, his father-in-law, Rollie Carey and his bonus son, Jonathan Belcher.
Wayne loved his friends and family deeply and he loved good food, music of all kinds and especially loved to fish. He was a compassionate gentle man who was always the same, patient and kind, but also quick witted and funny. His primary goal in life was to teach others the value of having a personal, loving relationship with Jesus Christ and he did just that all the way to the end of this life.
During his lifetime he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and spent several years serving as Chaplain and Safety Officer for the Cave City volunteer fire department where he became a certified EMT and served his community well. He also served the Elizabethtown Emmaus Community as a clergy member for many years. Always eager to encourage and help people in every aspect of life, we his family feel confident Pops has heard the words. “Welcome in my good and faithful servant”.
