Carl “Dale” Norman, 83, son of the late Carvel “Red” Norman and Zona Walker Norman, died peacefully at his home in Glasgow on October 2, 2009 after a brief illness. A native of Tompkinsville, he was retired from T. J. Samson Community Hospital and was a former member of the Glasgow City Council, where he had served for 20 years. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Navy in the Philippines during WW II. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he also served as Deacon for many years and was presently attending Little Bethel Baptist Church.

Dale is survived by Maxine, his beloved wife of 60 years; his five children, Sharon (David) Hall, Larry Norman, Vickie Gaston, Pam (Mike) Goad and Stacy (Larry) Hammer all of Glasgow; his ten grandchildren, Jeff (Kathy) Hall, Sherri (Tim) Myers, Angela (Lee) Lindsey, Alison (Patrick) Ross, Terri (Khris) Medcalfe, Derek Hogue, Nicole (Jared) Pursley, Leslie (Brent) Spillman, Matthew and Nicholas Reed; his twelve great-grandchildren, Savannah, Tyler and Taylor Hall, Michela Page, Sierra Harper, Allen, Lane and Jared Dale Myers, Logan Lindsey, Ellie Ross, Morgan Medcalfe and Tate Spillman; his two great-great-grandchildren, Allana Rose Bailey and Preston Page; one brother, Keith (Liz) Norman of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James “Guy” Norman, Rondall “Bully” Norman, Jerry Norman and Bobby Norman.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to T. J. Samson Hospice. 1301 North Race St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
