Marty Huffman

Dale Martin “Marty” Huffman, 73, of Glasgow, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 23, 2026, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 19, 1953, to the late Wrenneth L. Huffman and Chloe S. Martin Huffman, Marty lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and an infectious sense of humor. Quick with a joke, a witty comeback, or a playful nickname, he kept everyone on their toes and had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. Wherever he went, laughter was never far behind.

Marty retired from R.R. Donnelley in 2009 after a lengthy career, where he formed lifelong friendships and often reminisced about his years working in the press room. Retirement led to new endeavors. He later worked as a driver for Dave’s Transportation Service, where he especially enjoyed getting to know the patients he transported.

On August 23, 1975, Marty married Connie Lynn Page, and together they built a life centered on faith, love, laughter, and steadfast companionship. He had a knack for giving those he loved affectionate nicknames, and Connie was forever his beloved “Petey Pie.”

A faithful member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church, Marty remained devoted to his church until declining health prevented him from attending regularly. Whether at church or gathered around the family table, he led by humble example. At family dinners, he could always be found at the head of the table, faithfully leading the family in prayer before every meal.

Marty found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, whether casting a fishing line, playing a game of pool, dealing a hand of cards with family and friends, or gathering around the table for a good meal and even better conversation. Those moments were rarely quiet. He loved to tease, tell stories, and keep everyone laughing with his quick wit. More than anything, he treasured being surrounded by family, and his greatest joy was spending time with the people he loved.

To his grandchildren and many others who knew and loved him, Marty was affectionately known as “Pa.” The name suited him well. He took great pride in his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent making memories with them. Whether sharing a laugh, telling a story, or simply being present, he had a way of making those around him feel loved. The loss of his oldest daughter in 2021 left an emptiness that never faded. Not a day passed that he did not think of her, and he looked forward with unwavering hope to the day they would be reunited.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Connie Huffman; his daughter, Marsha Coy (Shawn); his son-in-law, Eddie Williams; five beloved grandchildren, Brennan Crain (Holly), Layton Coffey (Hallie), Kaden Crain (Natalie), Luke Williams, and Levi Williams (McKenzie), who brought him immeasurable joy; his brother, David “Butch” Huffman (Jerry); his sisters-in-law, Debbie Patterson, his devoted caregiver, and Sandra Smith (Eddie); his brothers-in-law, Jim Page and Wendell Page; and a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Donna Michelle Williams; his brothers, James R. Huffman, Lenville A. Huffman, and Bobby C. Huffman; and his sister, Shelby J. Huffman Pedigo.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, July 26, beginning at 2 p.m., and again on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 27, with Bro. Rick Proffitt officiating.
