Curtis Wilson, 82, Glasgow, died Monday, January 10, 2022 at the T J Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late Horace Blackston Wilson and Lillie Pearl Riddle Wilson.
Curtis was a musician, singer, and songwriter. He had a natural affinity for the guitar. He played his first public appearance at age 8 in the Plaza Theatre. His mother bought him a Gibson Jumbo guitar in 1952 on which he perfected his talent. Through the years he has played and sung in various locations from Glasgow to Bowling Green to Nashville. He also appeared on the Ralph Emery Show in Nashville. He was a U S Army veteran and a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church.
Survivors include two children: Richard C. “Ricky” Wilson and Missy Staples; two grandchildren: Sarah Reneau (B J) and Taylor Staples (Dillon Gordon); two sisters: Sarah Barrick and Cynthia Propupek; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Lou Church Wilson; one sister, Irene Schmidt (Howard); four brothers: Harold Wilson, Lee Wilson (Virginia), Chester Wilson (Helen), and Tommy Wilson (Sue); and two brothers-in-law: Johnny Barrick and Earl Propupek.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
