Clara Mae Compton, 74, Lakeview Drive, Glasgow, died Wednesday at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital. A daughter of the late Fred and Libby Post Hale, she was a retired meat wrapper/butcher at Elmore & Payne Packing Company, a member of the Edmonton Chapter #470 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the widow of the late Memry Compton.

Survivors include one daughter, Donnie Meador of Glasgow; one son, Charles “Rick” Hale and his wife, Mary of Lagrange, North Carolina; four grandsons, Jason Meador of Glasgow, Steven Hale, David Hale and Michael Carmody, Jr. and his wife, Amy all of North Carolina; one brother, Russell Hale and his wife, Dale of Glasgow; one sister-in-law, Della Compton of Glasgow. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Syree and one brother, Charles R. Hale.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Eastern Star services will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
