Cheryl Berry Ambach

Cheryl Berry Ambach, born August 15, 1948 to the late Harry Wallace Berry and Mabel Gabhart Berry, left her earthly family on July 7, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. A loving mother, grandmother, and wife, a devoted Christian, public servant, and brilliant mind, Cheryl began her law practice in Glasgow, KY in 1974 as the first female attorney in Barren County. She served as a commissioner on the governor’s workers compensation task force in the 1980s and spent much of her career representing the underrepresented and underserved. A tireless advocate for children, in 2019 she was recognized as the CASA Guardian ad litem of the year. She accomplished this all while devoting most of her time to raising her three children, Patrick, Andy, and Laura. Her love for the game of bridge led her to the arms of Jack Ambach, whom she married on October 1, 1994. Together they laughed, joked, played bridge, enjoyed University of Louisville sporting events and began seeing the world before the scourge of cancer became too severe to prevent such enjoyment. Her true joy, however, was watching the growth and development of her four grandchildren and two bonus granddaughters, and she found each to be exceptional and perfect.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Ambach of Glasgow, brother, Greg Berry (Leslie) of Glasgow, sister, Lori Houchens (Ricky) of Glasgow, son, Patrick Klapheke (Meredith) of Alvaton, son, Andy Klapheke of Asheville, North Carolina and daughter, Laura McCarley (JP) of Nashville, Tennessee. Four grandchildren who loved their CiCi also survive: Turner Wallace Klapheke, Mark Eliot (Eli) Klapheke, Mabel Dean Wray Klapheke, and John Landregan McCarley as well as two bonus granddaughters, Ellie and Addie McCarley. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 13 at 11am at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 12 from 1-5pm and Monday from 9 until the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to CASA of Southern Kentucky or The Avenue Church in Glasgow.
