Charles Richard Ballard, 62, Glasgow, died Wednesday, January 06, 2010, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was a son of Rev. Martin Ballard of Glasgow and the late Nina P. Vibbert Ballard. He was a farmer and a member of the Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Sharon; 11 children, Judy McCluskey, Richard Anthony Ballard, Michelle Lester, Charles Jason Ballard, Joshua Ballard, Tracy Gravens, Kris Blakey, Jennifer Logsdon, Brandon Blakey, Macayla Ballard and Trenton Ballard; 6 brothers, Amos Ballard, Teddy Ballard, Luke Ballard, Leonard Ballard, Joe Ballard and Johnny Ballard; 4 sisters, Mattie Pearl Childress, Zeba Thomas, Martha Coomer and Brenda Vincent; 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Ballard; one brother, Frankie Ballard and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the family to help defray costs.
