Cecil Edward Compton, 78, of Glasgow, KY, passed away January 5th, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family. Though his passing brings deep sorrow, it is also marked by the long‑awaited and joyful reunion with his beloved wife, Janice Sue Compton, who went home to Jesus last year. Cecil had spoken often of his desire to follow behind her, and his family takes comfort in knowing that wish has now been fulfilled.
Cecil proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran in the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Division. His service was a source of great pride, and he spoke of it with deep reverence and respect. Unfortunately, his time spent serving his country led to many health problems, which were a hardship that kept him from enjoying the retirement his family had hoped to see come to fruition for him. Even so, his love for his family and his unwavering sense of duty carried him through. He gave them everything he had, every single day. His “healthy retirement” begins now, that he is wholly restored, and finally able to enjoy the peace and freedom he deserved. Cecil was the kind of husband, father, and grandfather any family would be blessed to have. Selfless and hardworking, he consistently placed the needs of his loved ones above his own. He embodied countless virtues with quiet strength - courage, loyalty, patience, perseverance, resilience, service, generosity, and faith. His faith remained steadfast throughout his life, and in his final days he reassured his family that he felt no fear. He knew exactly where he was going and who would be waiting for him. He said that his first morning in Heaven would be spent sharing a cup of coffee with his granddaughter and his wife.
Cecil is survived by his children: Timothy Miller, Regina Clark, and Mark Compton; two grandchildren: Brittney Profgan(Debbie) and Brilee Clark; siblings: James, Donald, Joyce, Linda, David, Sammy, and Lois. Aside from his wife, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Erin Clark; his parents Otis and Ethel Compton; and siblings Douglas, Wanda, Betty, and Gerry Lee.
