Carolyn Manis

Carolyn Jane McCoy Manis entered her eternal rest on September 9, 2026, at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. Carolyn was born on November 14, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Virgil B. McCoy and Jane Wagoner McCoy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne and Mike McCoy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Byron "Buck" Manis and her son, Blake Allen Manis. Other survivors include her sister Charlene McCoy Wisdom (Barry), sisters-in-law, Georgeanne McCoy (John O'Connor) and Martha Carol McCoy as well as a niece and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her best friend of 80 years, Davie Greer.

Carolyn was a graduate of Glasgow High School and received her teaching degree from Bowling Green Teacher's College. She later returned to earn her Master's degree from Western Kentucky University. Her teaching career began at Alvaton High School before she returned to her Alma Mater, Glasgow High School, where she continued teaching until her retirement. Carolyn dearly loved teaching at GHS and devoted herself not only to her students but also to the school and the Scotties. She taught English, sponsored the Yearbook, served as cheerleader coach and participated in many other extracurricular activities throughout her years at Glasgow High School.

Carolyn was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing a great game of Bridge and above all caring for her beloved pets. Carolyn will be remembered for her love of family, her dedication to teaching and her students, her devotion to Glasgow High School and the many lives she touched throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with inurnment at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to BRAWA.
