Bruce Bishop Layne 65, of Fountain Run, died April 21, 2012 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The Fountain Run, KY native was born on September 1, 1946, a son of the late Will Ellis Layne and Helen Layne, Bowling Green, KY. Mr. Layne was a retired teacher in Barren County. He taught 25 years at Austin Tracy and 3 years at the Barren County Middle School. He raised beef cattle for over 50 years starting with a 4-H project. He was members of KEA, NEA, Barren County Cattlemens, Kentucky Hereford Association, Kentucky Cattlemens Association, and National Cattlemens Association. He loved raising Herefords and Border Collies. He also loved his “I Can Class” and carried that positive attitude until the end of his cancer battle. He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He is a member of Fountain Run Old Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and three sons, Blake Bishop (Sandy) of Bowling Green, Cody Patrick and Bo Tanner of Fountain Run, one grandson, Brandt Bishop, Bowling Green, father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Sarah Rice, of Smiths Grove, KY, brother, Chuck of Franklin, two nieces, Michelle Bishop Allen (Paul) Versailles, Courtney Brown, Bowling Green, KY, and one nephew, Hayden Bishop, Scottsville.
Graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Wood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday and 9:00 A.M. to Noon on Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wood Cemetery in care of Patty Blevins 275 N. Combs Lane., Fountain Run, KY.
