Brenda Garmon Stephens

Brenda Garmon Stephens 75 of Glasgow, KY passed away on August 22, 2025 surrounded by her family. Brenda was born on March 11, 1950 in Monticello, KY to Charles William Gann and Jessie Madalean Gann. She grew up in Monticello with her parents and with her siblings: Barbara, Charles “Bubby”, Mary, Eben, Karen, and David.

Brenda’s proudest role in life was being a mother to her three children, Lisa, Sherry and Chuck. She also loved spending time with her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a devoted healthcare worker at NHC Healthcare and retired in 2014. Her residents and coworkers loved her. Brenda was a faithful member to Calvary Temple Church in Columbia,KY for 55 years.

Brenda is survived by her children: Lisa Devore(Brooke) of Knob Lick, KY, Sherry Stephens(Tim) of Hiseville, KY, Chuck Garmon and friend, Kent Murrell of Hiseville, KY. Her grandchildren, Savannah Neal(Joe), Hannah Nimmie (Jake), Gabriella Devore, Logan Stephens, and Colt Devore. Her three great-grandchildren; Lilly Jo Neal, Trace Maverick Neal and Scarlett Brooke Neal. Her siblings Charles Gann “Bubby”(Bowling Green), Mary Smith(Monticello), Eben Gann(Scottsville), and Karen Garmon(Glasgow)

Preceded in death by her father and mother: Charles William Gann and Jessie Madalean Gann, her sister, Barbara Jones and brother, David Gann.

In Loving Memory of a Virtuous Woman: Brenda Garmon Stephens

We celebrate the life of a faithful, meek, and loving woman whose walk with the Lord was a testimony of grace and humility. She lived out the words of Scripture: “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5, KJV). Her gentle spirit and steady faith reflected the heart of Christ in all she did.

She was the foundation of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s faith, planting seeds of prayer and guiding them in the ways of the Lord. She loved her church deeply and remained faithful in her service, even through seasons of great hardship. Her life was a living testimony of perseverance, showing all who knew her that true strength comes from trusting God.

Like the Proverbs 31 woman, she “feared the Lord” and walked in wisdom. She gave her family roots in faith and built her legacy on love, humility, and prayer. Her meekness was not weakness, but a quiet strength that carried her family and inspired all around her.

Though she has entered her eternal reward, her devotion to God and her love for her family and church will continue to live on. She left a legacy of faith, hope, and love she instilled in every life she touched.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 25 at the funeral home.
