Bessie Jewell Riddle, 92, Glasgow, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at Hospice House in Bowling Green. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Henry T. Staples and Minnie Myrtle Huff Staples and widow of the late Wilma “Bill” Riddle.

Bess was a retired floor lady at Handmacher Fashions and was of the Baptist Faith. She also worked closely alongside her husband in the restaurant business. She was described as the “family photographer” because of her love of picture taking. She was a fan of gospel music who also loved to listen to the Glasgow Scottie Band drum line and bagpipers. She was an avid player of card games and enjoyed being outdoors.

Survivors include two children: Joseph “Joey” Riddle and wife Lori of Marietta, SC, and Deanna Pierce and husband Stephen of Glasgow; five grandsons: Chris Riddle and Jacob Pierce of Glasgow, Jordan Pierce (Brittany) of Bowling Green, Clayton Riddle (Crystal) of Anderson, SC, and Kody Riddle of Marietta, SC; four great-grandchildren: Syrus Sams of Glasgow, Charity Riddle of Marietta, Mark Pierce of Glasgow, and Eva Pierce of Bowling Green; two step-grandchildren, Chuck Ballard of McDaniels, KY and Judy Johnson of Owensboro; a sister-in-law Mayme Staples of Rineyville, KY; a brother-in-law Howard Polson of Scottsville; a special great-niece Pippa Riddle of Glasgow; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Lois Perkins, Madell Bagby, and Peggy Polson; and five brothers: David Staples, Henry Ellison Staples, Leroy Staples, Milburn Staples, and James Follis Staples.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers; the Memory Care Staff and Nurse Kennedy at Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing; Skyline Medical Center Trauma Staff; and Dr. Byrne, Payton, and Kim at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.
