Bernice Alline Christie Oakes, 84, Glasgow, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A daughter of the late Willie and Myrtie Williams Morgan, she was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her four children, Jack Christie and wife, Rose, Rollin Christie and wife, Nancy, and Teddy Christie and wife, Jenny, all of Glasgow; Freddie Christie of Tampa, FL.; one step-daughter, Joyce Christie Cox of Tampa; seven grandchildren, Jeff Christie, Jennifer Christie Thurman, Sarah Christie, Micajah Christie, Morgan Christie, Greg Christie and Jennifer; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lester Christie and Lester Oaks; four brothers, Cova Morgan, Raymond Morgan, Damon Morgan and Thurman Morgan; three sisters, Gladys Morgan Christie, Lucille Morgan White and Christine Morgan Ford.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
