Barbara J. Thomas, 79, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Woodcrest Retirement Community’s Nursing Center in Decatur. She was born on March 18, 1931, in Barren County, Kentucky, to Sanford and Ethel (Mansfield) Gravens. She married George R. Thomas on October 16, 1948; he passed away on September 21, 1984.
She is survived by four sons, George C. (Brenda) Thomas of Lagro, Indiana; Donald P. (Patricia) Thomas and William L. Thomas, both of Decatur; and John P. (Mandy) Thomas of Monroe; a daughter, Ethel Ann Thomas of Decatur; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, four sisters, and a son, Robert Ellis Thomas.
Funeral will be 12 noon Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
