Thelma Jean Byrd

Thelma Jean Neal Byrd, 88, of Hiseville, KY, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Monday, February 13, 2023; at Glenview Health & Rehab Center.  A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe Neal and Annie Mae Abney. She was an avid gardener, lover of animals, and possessed a witty sense of humor. She was a huge fan of UK Basketball.

She is survived by four daughters: Nancy Kay Moody (Marlin) of Scottsville; Deborah Sue Hurt (Roger) of Glasgow, Paula Jean Gillock (Danny) of Scottsville, & Kimberly Jane Perkins (Jeff) of Hiseville; five grandchildren: Angela Dossey of Alvaton, Elizabeth Witt (Josh) of Scottsville, Matthew Neafus (Kacie) of Cub Run, Amiee Perkins of Hiseville, & Lori Madison of Glasgow;  nine great-grandchildren: Grant & Alec Woodworth of Alvaton; Madison & Raylee of Cub Run; Autumn, Jacob, & Lily Witt of Scottsville; Chloe Burd (Tyler) of Bowling Green; & Clay Madison of Glasgow; two siblings: Virginia Bennett of Glasgow & Lawrence Neal (Lera) of Wingate, IN; in addition to several nieces & nephews.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, J D Byrd; her son, Daryl J Byrd; & a sister, Evie Elizabeth Hatcher.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
