    Lindsay, Wendi and Kevin,
Your lovely mother and I felt as though we had known each other as soon as we met. We both knew how fortunate we were to share the joy of our childrens’ college graduation, and then the happiness of their wedding. Donnie was a beautiful lady; she showed the strength and gentleness of her character as she faced the uncertainty of her failing health with such peace. I hope you will find comfort in the knowledge that she was loved by so many for her kind spirit. All the Howell family send our deepest sympathy to you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mrs. Gardner was my Latin facilitator and made my middle school days so much brighter being in her class every day. I used to always make sure I stopped to see her when I went back to the middle school after I left. She was always such a joy and always had a smile on hand. I’ll miss her greatly.

My late husband and Donnie’s late husband were 1st cousins and grew up together. Even after Jim moved to Tennessee then North Carolina he had wonderful memories of Jimmie and after they married, memories of Donnie. Every time we were able to come to Glasgow, Donnie was a gracious hostess and a truely lovely person. The last time we were there she joined us for dinner telling us new of the family news and friends. Her obvious love of her family showed as she almost glowed when talking of them.

After my husband died Donnie sent me a wonderful book and a CD, both of which were greatly appreciated. She was one of a kind and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
