Carl F. Hughes

Carl F. Hughes, 98, Fountain Run, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at NHC in Glasgow. A native of Monroe County, he was a son of the late Brud and Bassie Flowers Hughes. He lived most of his life in Fountain Run and managed Sprowls Lumber Mill. He was an army veteran of WWII and a member and Elder of the Fountain Run Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Gordon Hughes and his wife, Patti; one granddaughter, Ava Brooks; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edison Hughes; nieces and nephews, James Hughes, Tim Hughes, Billy Clay Hughes, Nancy Lee, Martha Howard, Tommy Gumm, Butch Gibbs, Bob Gibbs, Nancy Sckelton and Sue Hughes; many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pearl Howard Hughes; one sister, Geneva; four brothers, Henry, Lewis, Edison and Paul.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Fountain Run Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Fountain Run Cemetery, c/o James Hughes, P.O.
