<p>Maxine Phillips Garrett, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 surrounded by her family. Maxine was born March 22, 1925 in Barren County. She was the daughter of the late Jennings and Lovie Phillips. She owned and operated Garretts Green Valley Grocery and served her community there for over 50 years. She was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church. </p>
<p>She is survived by one son: Phillip Garrett “Jeanne”; three grandchildren: Joshua Garrett “Leslie”, Jarrad Garrett and Molly Turner “Daniel”; Three great-grandchildren: Lane Garrett, Kira Garrett and Max Garrett and one expected in August; one sister: Joyce Wilkerson “Orville”.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Demmon Garrett, and one son Ronnie Garrett. Three sisters, Maude Billingsley, Laura Connor and Jean Greer. One brother, Clyde Phillips.</p>
<p>Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Hatcher &amp; Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to your favorite charity.</p>

<p>Jerry Wayne Greer, 69, Park City, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A native of Daviess County, he was a loving husband, father, special friend, and teacher to many. He was a graduate of Fordsville High School, where he had served as president of his class, the student council, and FFA, as well as being captain of his basketball team.</p>
<p>Jerry graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Agriculture Education and went on to receive his Masters and Rank I degrees from Western Kentucky University. He taught Agriculture at Park City High School and Barren County High School, retiring after 29 years of service. An excellent educator, he had a great love for horses and team penning. He was a member of one of the first team-penning events to be held at the Kentucky State Fair. He was a member of the Buck Creek and Cross Country Saddle Clubs and Park City Lions Club as well as many other school and community organizations.</p>
<p>Jerry had served on the Barren County Farm Bureau Board, and had been treasurer to the Barren County Natural Resources Conservation Service Board and State Director to the Kentucky Soil Conservation Board. He was a past member of BCEA, KEA, and NEA, a member of the FFA Alumni Association, and a member of the Glasgow –Barren County and Kentucky Retired Teachers Organizations. He was a director and a Past President of the Barren County Cattlemen’s Association, a member and former director of the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, a member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and a charter member of the Barren Beef Group. Jerry was also a Past President of the Kentucky Vo-Ag Teachers Association as well as the 3<sup>rd</sup> District KVA. Jerry has served as FFA Advisor to the Park City and Barren County FFA Chapters, teacher and advisor to the Park City Young Farmers Class, and was an honorary member of the Barren County and Park City FFA Chapters. He received an honorary State Farmers Degree from the Kentucky FFA, an honorary Young Farmers Degree from the Kentucky YFA. Most recently, he had served as Agricultural Representative and Loan Officer for South Central Bank.</p>
<p>Jerry is survived by his wife, Reeda Greer; one son, Clinton Greer of Park City; one daughter, Jamie Greer Camacho (Charlie) of White House, TN; two grandchildren, Joseph Brent Greer and Ina Marishka Greer; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Dawn Greer; three step-children, Rhonda Townsend (Charles), Michael Ray Elmore (Lisa), and Mark Richard Elmore (Jean); eight step-grandchildren, Dakota, Ashton, and Micha Elmore, Oliver and Owen Townsend, Morgan Elmore, Lauren and Lindsey Carroll; one step-great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Carroll; his mother, Cora Edge Greer of Whitesville, KY; two brothers, Cletus Greer and Pat Greer of Whitesville; two nephews, Kent Patrick Greer and Patrick Curtis Greer. He was preceded in death by his father, Glover Greer.</p>
<p>Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher &amp; Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.&#160; Alternate expressions of sympathy to the American Cancer Society. </p>

<p>Lawrence Lincoln Vance, 95, Glasgow, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at NHC of Glasgow. A native of Park City, he was a son of the late John Marshall and Nora Barrons Vance. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served as the only medical personnel aboard a U.S. submarine. He was a mason and a shriner; he had worked as a Pullman conductor for L &amp; N Railroad; he had worked as a health inspector and a member of the Disability Review Team for the State of Kentucky as well as a hearing officer for public assistance. He has also served as a member of the Disability Review Team for Social Security Administration in Atlanta. He was a past president of the local AARP chapter and a member of the First United Methodist Church.</p>
<p>Survivors include his wife, Lela Mae Vance; one brother, Kenneth Gene Vance (Ann) of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews including Patty Brown, Robert Friend, Sharon Frey, Jerry Friend, Mack Ross, Julie Scoski, Lisa Collopy, Alan Vance, and Karen Vance.</p>
<p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Allan “Larry” Vance and several brothers and sisters.</p>
<p>Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher &amp; Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.</p>

<p align="center">Richard Joseph Sujat, Sr., 69 of Glasgow, died, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Francis Sujat and Frances Gwozdz Sujat. He was a retired pipefitter with Local 469 where he worked on Nuclear Power Houses. He was a Mason, Shriner and an avid sports fan. He was attending St. Helen’s Catholic Church.</p>
<p align="center">Survivors include his wife: Sandie Sujat; three sons: Chuck H. Vibbert and his wife Angie, Reid Vibbert and Richard Sujat, Jr. and his wife Jenelle; one daughter: Vickie Jones; three grandchildren: Alexa Sujat, Peyton Sujat and Wally Vibbert; one brother: Fred Sujat; one aunt: Adele Towrele.</p>
<p align="center">Funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher &amp; Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.</p>

<p align="center">Bruce Bishop Layne 65, of Fountain Run, died April 21, 2012 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The Fountain Run, KY native was born on September 1, 1946, a son of the late Will Ellis Layne and Helen Layne, Bowling Green, KY. Mr. Layne was a retired teacher in Barren County. He taught 25 years at Austin Tracy and 3 years at the Barren County Middle School. He raised beef cattle for over 50 years starting with a 4-H project. He was members of KEA, NEA, Barren County Cattlemens, Kentucky Hereford Association, Kentucky Cattlemens Association, and National Cattlemens Association. He loved raising Herefords and Border Collies. He also loved his “I Can Class” and carried that positive attitude until the end of his cancer battle. He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He is a member of Fountain Run Old Missionary Baptist Church.</p>
<p align="center">He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and three sons, Blake Bishop (Sandy) of Bowling Green, Cody Patrick and Bo Tanner of Fountain Run, one grandson, Brandt Bishop, Bowling Green, father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Sarah Rice, of Smiths Grove, KY, brother, Chuck of Franklin, two nieces, Michelle Bishop Allen (Paul) Versailles, Courtney Brown, Bowling Green, KY, and one nephew, Hayden Bishop, Scottsville.</p>
<p align="center">Graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Wood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday and 9:00 A.M. to Noon on Monday at the Hatcher &amp; Saddler Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wood Cemetery in care of Patty Blevins 275 N. Combs Lane., Fountain Run, KY.</p>

<p>David Lynn “Crockett” Cox, 48, Glasgow, died suddenly Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Stockton, AZ. <p>Survivors include his three children, Stephanie Cox of Louisville, Travis Cox of Glasgow, and Tessa Cox and her fiancée Josh Medley of Smiths Grove; his mother and step-father, Linda and Kenneth Melloan of Horse Cave; two sisters, Sherry Meador and husband, Lynn, of Cave City, and Crystal Peterie and husband, Brett, of Rockfield; special friend, Beth Hunt of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Vibbert Cox.</p>
<p>Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher &amp; Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.</p>
