Bubby Wheat

James Reed “Bubby” Wheat, 82, Glasgow, passed away Thursday at his residence.  Born May 15, 1937 at Tracy, KY, he was a son of the late James E. Wheat and Willa Carver Wheat.  An area businessman, he was involved in numerous endeavors; but is most noted for his owning Bubby’s Auto Sales.  He enjoyed talking with his friends, meeting with his coffee groups, spending time with his family, and spending time on his car lot.

Survivors include two daughters: Rita Read and Cynthia York and her husband Mark all of Glasgow; seven grandchildren: Jamie Read Fancher (Larry), Josh Read (Audra), Jacob Read (Nikita), Clay York, Tanner York, Chelsea York, and Gracie York; four great-grandchildren: Allen Arms, Kirby Read, Orby Read and Sawyer Hagan; one sister, Shirley Elmore (Rex); three brothers: Jerry Wheat, Terry Wheat (Sharon), and Perry Wheat (Rose); several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents,  he was preceded in death by his son-in-law: Joel Wayne Read; his grandson: Joel Wayne “Pud” Read, II.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday and continue Tuesday morning at the funeral home.  Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Barren County Reads and Feeds or to Community Medical Care.
