Leroy Arthur Birge, 74, Glasgow, died Monday, July 25, 2016, at his residence. A native of Illinois, he was a son of the late George Arthur “Jack” Birge and Flossie Mae Pitcock Birge. He was a farmer and carpenter, having helped build numerous houses in the area. He was also an avid woodworker, gardener, and outdoorsman, and a member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn; their five children: Lisa Poland and husband Jerry, Donna Kinslow and husband Stanford, Bridget Clark and husband Richard, Rodney Birge and wife Lee Ann, and Greg Birge; six grandchildren: Ashley Freeman, Dustin Morrison and wife Mandy, Shanna Vibbert and husband Bill, Westley Kinslow, Nathan Birge, and Cheyenne Birge and fiancé Matt Dyer; two great-grandchildren: Wade Vibbert and Nolan Dyer; two sisters: Clarice Spradlin and husband Levi, and Diane Russell and husband Larry; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Yandel Birge and Wallace Birge.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
