My heart was broken this morning when I learned of my sweet and long-time friend Buddy’s passing. Knew his mom and dad very well and they were wonderful people just like Buddy. He began his career with my mom and dad, George and Beady McQuown breaking him in at the Circuit Court Clerk’s office in the Courthouse. Buddy was like a brother and I loved him as one. He attended Glasgow High School with one of my brother’s, Maurice Lynn McQuown. We both shared a love for horses and I remember the many things he told of his horse adventures and still smile when I think about them. I cried also when I heard because he was that special. He was at one of my co-workers retirement in November and I ask him when he planned to retire which I had ask several times before and he said something like, “Never.” So rest in peace my friend and we will cherish the memories forever.

Thanks for the memories, The Saturday’s you and Buddy would bring your children to George J’s for breakfast then come to our shop to look around was great memories, then we had a second generation. AS your children grew to successful adults, I then remembered their childhood, your love of caring for your family is the results of their achievements as adults.
May God continue to Bless your and all you family and give you the Only PEACE He knows,
He is in the hands of the Almighty

  20. Kreis McGuire says:

Coaching and teaching in Glasgow from 1980 – 1982 “Buddy” was one of my favorites. He was always at parent/teacher night and he would share comments that his son John told him about conversations and discussions that we had in class. Just a good guy and class act. He also had one of the first state of the art video recorder’s that I’d ever seen and would always videotape football games on Friday night.

Looking back at those days so many kids still come to mind. Great kids like John Alexander, Tag Taylor, John Benningfield, Davy Walden, Micah Guilfoil, Grant Frazier, Marade McCarthy and so many others. Hat’s off to their parents for raising such fantastic kids. There were so many others not mentioned and I thought the world of every single one of them.

It’s people like “Buddy” that were pillars in the community that made the town of Glasgow such a special place to live. Especially for a young kid fresh out of WKU from 1980 – 1982.
