Ted Railey

Dr. Ted R. Railey, 88, Glasgow, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at Signature Healthcare of Glasgow. Born in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late George and Rosie Ryherd Railey.

Ted served with the U. S. Army for 11 years during WWII and the Korean Conflict era, after which he followed his dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Railey practiced dentistry for 46 years, receiving additional training in dental surgery and forensic dentistry. He was a member of Delta Sigma Delta. He was also a 60 year member of the Austin Masonic Lodge as well as a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Kosair Shrine. Dr. Railey also farmed most of his life and was a member of the Barren Co. and Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, Kentucky Farm Bureau, and had served many years as a board member of the Southern States Glasgow Co-op. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Kentucky and Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV, a member of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club, and a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Dr. Railey is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna C. Proffitt Railey, along with several cousins.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.

I remember the good times at South Fork Baptist when he sat behind me and loved to aggravate me…..of course, you know I loved to aggravate back. Many good memories of you and Dr at South Fork Baptist.
