Stokley Lee Smith, 90, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 25th, 2015, at Glasgow Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Barren County on December 15, 1924, to the late Charlie B. and Mary Huddleston Smith. He was a retired farmer and construction worker for James Norris Gray Construction for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre. He loved working with his hands, woodworking and gardening. He was a man who loved the Lord and lived his life for the Lord and his family. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, SFC Retired Jerry L. Smith (Freda) of Glasgow. Five grandsons: Scott Anthony Smith (Stacy) of Glasgow; Jeremy Smith (BJ) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Jeffrey L. Smith (Jessica) of Bewleyville; Jimmy Simpson (Ammiegail) and Michael Simpson, both of Lawrenceburg; and one granddaughter, Brittanie Cox (Matthew) of Appling, Georgia. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law Stella Mathews of Lexington and Doris Byrd of Eighty Eight and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Mildred Leola Byrd; one son Wilber Lee Smith; two brothers Ruel and Marlin Smith; four half-brothers, Buford and Hubert Smith and Roma and Robbie Britt.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27th at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 28th, at the funeral home with Revs. Scott A. Smith, Neil Jeffries, and Robbie Ward officiating. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
