Mrs. Sadie Jewell Jackman, 85, Glasgow, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Brighton Garden in Greensboro, NC. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Euna Houchens Davis, and the widow of the late Roger G. Jackman. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and daughter, and a gifted teacher. She began her teaching career of 35 years at Merry Oaks, a one room school, and completed it as a 5th grade teacher at E. B. Terry Elementary in Glasgow. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a long-time member and former Sunday School Teacher of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Beth Jackman Holland and her husband, Dr. Richard Holland of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren: Adrienne Holland and Jack Holland; three sisters: Dorothy Glass and husband John, Grace Roby, and Virginia Wells and husband James; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Mattie Matthews, Ida Humphrey Smith, Levie Kinslow, and Bertha Davis; and one brother: Samuel D. Davis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the Staff of Brighton Gardens, Community Hospice of Burlington, NC,  Bright Star, and Companion Care of Glasgow for their sincerely loving care and compassion shown to Mrs. Jackman.
