Former Barren County Magistrate, Tommy Matthews, 66, died May 14, 2015 at TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky.

Visitation will be held at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home from Saturday, May 16th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. , and on Sunday, from noon until the time of the service. The funeral service will be on May 17 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Hiseville Cemetery.

Tommy was born September 13, 1948, in Barren County to B.F. and Bess Matthews.

He worked many years at Tyson Bearing/SKF Industries. During his 36 year career, Tommy worked in tool and dye, and served as the United Steelworkers of America Union President at SKF for 3 years. He also served the Barren County community as magistrate of District 4 for twenty-four years from 1990 to 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lynda Phillips Matthews; sons, Bo (Terri) Matthews of Glasgow, and Todd (Tonya) Matthews of Alvaton, Kentucky; two grandsons, Greg and Luke Matthews; two granddaughters, Haley and Aleya Matthews; one brother, Billy (Carolyn) Matthews of Glasgow; two sisters, Nancy Richardson of Glasgow, and Madonna (Mike) Young of Dry Fork; and one sister-in-law, Gail Matthews of Alvaton, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Matthews of Alvaton, and one brother-in-law, Sam Richardson of Glasgow.

In lieu of flowers, condolences may be made to the building fund of Hiseville Christian Church, where Tommy has been a life-long member.
