Georgia Brent Wells Strader, 93, Glasgow, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Temple Hill, KY, she was a daughter of the late Joe S. Wells and Gladys Wilborn Wells, and the wife of the late Bruce Strader. Mrs. Strader was also preceded in death by her sister Ellen Byrd Wells Nolen and a nephew Joseph Wells Nolen.

Mrs. Strader moved to Glasgow at the age of six and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1939. She attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL for one year then returned to Western Kentucky University for one year. In 1941, she married Bruce Strader and Hiseville, KY became her home for the next 60 years. She enjoyed living on the family farm, being helpmate to her husband, and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Hiseville Baptist Church. In 2001, she moved to Highland Ridge Assisted Living, where she lived until her unexpected death.

Survivors include two daughters: Anne Bruce Botts and husband Carlton, and Jo Brent Elmore and husband John Ray, all of Glasgow; five grandchildren: John Strader Botts and wife Donna, Jeffrey Carlton Botts and wife Missy, James Bruce Botts and wife Cathy, and Daniel Brent Johnson, all of Glasgow, and Michael Bradley Johnson and wife Ann of Louisville; 10 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She especially mentored her sister’s daughters: Ellen Lee Nolen Boone and Sammye Helen Byrd Markham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Hiseville Cemetery, c/o Ruth Hunley, P. O. Box 228, Hiseville, Ky. 42152. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
