Helen S. Nichols

Helen Smith Nichols, 90, Glasgow, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Barren County Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert White Smith and Mary Susan Bunch Smith.

She was the retired owner/operator of Glasgow TV Sales; a member, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher of First Christian Church, Glasgow; a member of Altrusa Club; a member and a Past President of Barren County Democratic Women’s Club; and a member and a Past President of Barren County Homemakers Clubs.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Harvey Allen Nichols and a son Ronnie Nichols. Her survivors include her children: Philip Nichols and wife Ann of Danville, KY, and Suzanne Nichols of Glasgow; Ronnie’s widow: Judy Crabtree Flanders of Glasgow; six grandchildren: Angie Witty and husband Todd; Allyson Sutherland and husband Stacy all of Glasgow; Heather Thomas of Richmond; Laura Mason and husband Scott of Lexington; Bart Gover and wife Shelley and Brook Mills all of Danville; six great-grandchildren: Hayden and Kennedy Sutherland; Braden Thomas, Ella Grace Gover, Ethan Grant Gover, and Eden Gibbs Gover; one brother: Archie Lee Smith of Horse Cave; two nieces: Janet Smith White and husband Jim of Memphis, IN, and Jo-Ann Tolle of Glasgow; one nephew: Wayne “Doc” Nichols and wife Susan of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
