Lois G. McFarland, 90, Glasgow, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Magnolia Village in Bowling Green. A native of Metcalfe County, she was a daughter of the late Oren and Bertha Hayes Word. She was a retired seamstress at Handmacher Fashions and was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Loretta West of Scottsville; one son: Jerry McFarland and his wife Jo of Glasgow; four grandchildren: Karen Long Kane and husband Michael of Ashland City, TN; Antrina Harbison and husband Jason of Bowling Green; Chad McFarland and fiancée Sheila of Glasgow; and Jay McFarland and wife Leona of Glasgow; one sister: Marine Caffee of Columbus, IN; one brother: Neal Word of Edmonton; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Carl McFarland; three sisters: Maxine Estes, Aline Stephens, and Betty Gibson; two brothers: Leron Word and Charles Word.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
