Peggy Hopkins
July 25, 1933 ~ December 18, 2013
Peggy Hopkins, 80, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away December 18th at Barren County Heath Care Center.
She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and a retired nurse, having worked as a nursing assistant at TJ Sampson community hospital and home health for many years. After retiring, she worked at Goodies and Weldon memorial library. Everywhere she worked she was known for her caring and considerate nature.
Peggy was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to everyone she met. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and known to most people simply as “Nana.”
She was born July 25th, 1933 in Eldorado, Texas, fourth child of the late Ethel and Ross McAngus. She married the late Bobby Hopkins in July of 1954 and moved to Kentucky. She is preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and an infant son.
She is survived by her four children: Cindy Garrett of Temple Hill; Curtis Hopkins of Evansville, Indiana; Dusty Hopkins of Madison, Alabama; David Hopkins of Seattle, Washington. Four grandchildren: Amy Hammer and Ashley Wood of Temple Hill; Lacey Hopkins of Washington D.C.; Erin Hopkins of Raleigh, North Carolina. Two great-grandchildren, Brooke Hammer and Bradyn Wood of Temple Hill. Her sisters, Bonnie Hooker of San Angelo, Texas; Mimi Sackedis of Columbus, New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Sunday, December 22nd, at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, with burial at Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12pm Saturday at the funeral home.

So very sorry to hear about your Nana’s passing she was a great lady. She was always nice and spoke whenever i saw her anywhere. She loved you both very very much. Keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers at this time and always.
Peggy was such a special person. I am so thankful for the time I spent with her and will cherish the memories we made. I know she is rejoicing with Mama in Heaven right now. I love her and will always miss her.
Peggy was one of the most loving and kind caregivers, with whom I have had the privilege to work during my time at TJ Samson. When our patient census would be overflowing, necessitating that patients be placed in the hallways, Peggy never allowed the busy atmosphere to prevent her from providing only the best of care to all of our patients. Her quiet whit and the laughs our work teams shared energized even the most chaotic shifts. I am truly blessed to have had her in my life and I will forever treasure our great memories. .

One of my favorite memories of Peggy was when she visited her son David in Seattle, and he invited a few of us to join the two of them at a Seattle Mariners game. She had her baseball hat on, was chatting happily with David and all of us, and was taking in all the sights and sounds of a day at the ballpark.Peggy may have been a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, but that day she was a Mariners fan.

David and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Peggy growing up and in later years going to church together. She was such a precious lady and leaves behind some wonderful memories for her family and friends. You are all in my thoughts and prayers now and in the days to come. God bless!

What a joy it was to know such a sweet lady. I first met Mrs. Peggy where I worked as a meat manager at Happy Valley Houchens. She was a very loyal patron for many years with Houchen’s. Seems like she knew everyone in the store, It’s funny,I could always hear her talking and laughing from the first isle to the last. I always made it a point to get my fair share in too.She had a beautiful smile and laughter that just seemed to illuminate all around her. I do think Heavenly Father had a very special place in His heart for her, I know I did. To the family I offer my condolences and prayers in the days that lay ahead.May you find peace and comfort in knowing this wonderful lady lived a wonderful life surrounded by family and friends. She truly will be missed.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I did not know she was in the nsg home. She was a ” big smile”. God be with each of you. Hang onto all the good memories. Trust God to get yu thru this bump in the road. Just think of all the lives she has touched and all the skies to her patients faces.Carolyn

Curtis, Cindy, Amy and Ashley-So sorry to hear of your mother/grandmothers’ passing. Because of illness in the family-I was unaware of Peggy’s passing until now and therefore missed her visitation/funeral. Again-my condolences to all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a fine lady, caring, compassion, and kind. When I would see her out, we also spoke of you. She loved you deeply. I was unable to make it to the funeral home but please know you were and are in my thoughts and prayers,.
