Mary Verna Pippin

Mary Verna Alexander Pippin, 73, died Monday, February 11, 2013, in Metairie, Louisiana. Born in Hiseville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mary Marcum Alexander, and had resided in New Orleans for a number of years.

Survivors include two children, Darrell Richards and Mary Jo Richards Exposito; six grandchildren, Courtney, Darelynn, Cassidy, Kennidy, Jonathan Alexander, and Chaz; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Jayleigh; two brothers, Bill Alexander and Glenn Alexander; one sister, Sue Nell Grider.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Pippin; one brother, Joe Alexander; and one sister, Anna Katherine Strader.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon Sunday at the funeral home.

    Mary and I were classmates and friends. She practiced with my hair for her beautician course, in Bowling Green as well as roommates. She will be missed.

    We am so sorry to hear of Mary Verna’s passing. Our family lived next door to Joe B and “Miss Mary”, and we knew all their children , especially Mary Verna, since she was still in school and living at home at the time. She was a lovely person and our hearts go out to the family.

    Mary Verna was highly respected and a well liked member of our Hiseville High School Class of 1957. She was friendly to everone and always had a kind smile. Mary was especially known as an outstanding cheerleader with great enthusiasm. She was highly regarded and will be missed.
