Devaro Chantell Amos departed this life on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born July 9, 1987, in Glasgow, she was a 2006 graduate of Glasgow High School and had been employed at Subway in Glasgow for 7 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Union Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Kessley Faye Amos; her mother, Deloris Faye Driver Amos Short; her father, Leroy “Boggie” H. Amos, Jr.; one sister, Ashley M. Sweatt (Dustin Austin); Maternal grandparent, Norma Jean (Donnie “Cadillac” Brown) of Glasgow; Paternal grandparent, Leroy H. Amos, Sr. of Indianapolis; five nephews, Jabari J. Sweatt, Kenyon T. Martin, Tyson K. Martin, Keyshawn M. Austin, and Bobby J. Barbour; seven aunts, Brenda (Ricky) Wood, Judy (William) Woods, Sue (Kenny) Francis, Gaye Martin, Ann (Kenny) Doakes all of Glasgow, Rocky (Howard) Rice and Marie (Micky) Paul all of Hart County, Neverly Boards of Bowling Green, Kim Amos, Kanisha Amos, Kathy Amos, Kelly Willis, and Lacie Willis all of Indianapolis; three uncles, Robert (Joyce) Driver of Glasgow, Rodney Amos and Royal Amos of Indianapolis; a very special friend, John Andrews; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Driver, her paternal grandparent, Hazel J. Amos, an aunt, Linda Haskins, and a cousin, Antwyan (Smoke) Nuckols.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

    I can not even begin to express how saddened I am about Chantell passing. It is such a tragedy to know how someone so young and full of life can go. I know God has a greater plan for her.
    She was one of the most friendly sweet girls I have ever known. She always carried a smile no matter what she was doing.
    She will be truly missed. RIP Chantell and I love you girl! Watch over us!

    I am so sorry to hear of Chantell’s passing she was such a sweet girl and there will be lots of people to miss that big smile on her face when they walk in to sub-way.. She was always standing there with a smile from ear to ear waiting to fix up some subs.. May god be with all of you in this hard time..

    I have known chantell and kessley for 3 years and never did chantell show anything but a smile and true happiness.God has a very beautiful ANGEL in heaven,and soon we will meet again.Right now we have to stand up for Kessley and I pray that god stays next to this young lady and her family…My thoughts and prayers are with you all!!!

    Chantell was the strongest woman i have known no matter what battle she was faced with she never broke a smile held her head up high and lived for God and Kess not having any regrets in life she made friends at every mark in her journey she never forgot to thank God for allowing her to be here with us she lived life like an angel singing with her graceful voice always reaching her hand out to help out those in need embracing everyday with that laugh and smile she truly was an angel of God and now he has called her home So Ms. Telly as we mourn for you watch over everyone touch them so they know you still live in us and know that we will forever remember you and Kess will never forget how much you loved her and wont ever stop hearig all the great and remarkable things about you love you girl

    I had the pleasure of meeting Chantell when I worked at the daycare that Kessley attends. Chantell was a very good mother and it was easy to see how much she loved her daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with Chantell’s family and especially little Kessley.

    I am sending out my deepest prayers. I didn’t really know Chantell but had seen her and know her family. I’ve cried over this young gal leavin this earth, its just so hard to swallow knowing it could have been me leavin my 4 yr old daughter behind. GOD knows best.

    Chantell was one of the friendliest people working in downtown Glasgow and sparkled with hospitality. She talked about her daughter often and their love for one another was unmatched. I will miss her and my thoughts and prayers are for her and her family.

    I am so saddend to read about your daughter and niece. I don’t believe I ever met Chantell but, if she was anything like the two of you, she was a very sweet and kind person. I remember both of you fondly from Memorial Elementary in the early 80s..

    It has been hard going into subway and not seeing her face. my sister inlaw amanda worked with her often and was good friends with her. we miss her everyday. sometimes life seems so unreal at times
